Stairs & Railings

Craftsmanship applied to one of the most visible architectural features in the home.

Staircase transformation from worn treads to refinished dark treads with white risers

A functional element can still
become an architectural feature.

A staircase is seen from more angles than almost anything else in a house. Refinishing treads, resetting risers and adding a considered handrail can change the character of an entryway without touching the layout of the home.

What We Create

  • Stair tread and riser finishing
  • Refinished existing staircases
  • Handrails
  • Railing and baluster work
  • Stair trim and skirt detail
  • Landing finish work
Staircase before refinishing, with worn bare wood treads and risers

Details

Before and after, same staircase.

The stair here started as worn, bare treads. The finished run keeps the original structure and changes what the eye reads: dark treads, white risers and a single continuous handrail line.

  • Treads refinished in a dark stain
  • Risers and stringers finished in white
  • New wall-mounted handrail
